"I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me."  Matthew 25:35-36, NRSV

OUTREACH

Service to others has been an integral role of the United Methodist Church since its very inception. Through our connectional giving programs, we are able to reach out to those in our community, our nation and the world.

2017 Mission Projects

Savers Clothing Drive

This is a great time to clean out your closets for the Spring/Summer season, while also helping people who need access to affordable clothing. Sales at Savers (located on the Berlin Turnpike) benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Our church also earns funds for our mission projects.

Please bring gently used clothing, shoes, coats, linens and other bedding items to the church parking lot at 103 Hotchkiss Street,  Kensington (corner of Church and Hotchkiss, off Main St.) during the specified hours.

Friday, April 28th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Saturday, April 29th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Health Kits for Disaster Relief

The United Methodist Committee on Relief is one of the first organizations on the ground when disaster strikes in the U.S. and around with world. During April and May, we are collecting items for Health Kits. We will be assembling the kits, so if you would like to donate multiples of the same item, that is fine (you don't need to make a whole kit - we will do that). Please click here to see the list of items that each kit will contain.

District Mission Projects

Raise the Roof
Thank you to everyone for your support for the District's Raise the Roof campaign to help build an orphanage in partnership with the South Congo Congress.

Days for Girls provides personal care kits to girls.
Thank you to all for helping us reach our Days for Girls Goal!
Days for Girls International is a grassroots non-profit creating a more dignified, humane and sustainable world for girls through advocacy, reproductive health awareness, education and sustainable feminine hygiene, because no girl should go without. The poverty cycle can be broken when girls stay in school, which is a huge challenge in some countries. Not having sanitary supplies means days without school and isolation. Days for Girls gives Days back to girls, Days that can change their lives. The CT district is joining the New York Annual Conference this year to support the Days for Girls program. For $20, one Kit will provide sustainable feminine hygiene for one girl for 3 years!
