Join us as we remember the Last Supper with a soup and bread supper with Holy Communion, followed by a service of hand washing.

What is Maundy Thursday?

Maundy Thursday, also referred to as Holy Thursday, is the commemoration of Jesus' last supper with his disciples as they observed the Passover meal on the night before he was crucified. The events of the evening form the basis for Holy Communion as it is observed today.

The word "Maundy" is derived from a Latin word meaning " commandment" and refers to the commands that Jesus gave his disciples. Two notable events took place that night. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as an act of love to illustrate how we are to love one another through humbleness. He also took the bread and wine, asked God to bless it, gave it to his disciples and instructed them to "do this in remembrance of me."
