The children join us for worship at the beginning of the service each Sunday. Before they go off to Sunday School, they join the congregation in the Lord's Prayer.
They have learned about Holy Communion and us in receiving communion on the first Sunday of each month.
The children again accompanied the choir on handbells this Easter. They also sang two new songs this year.
For Sunday School, we use the Deep Blue series, a United Methodist curriculum. The children enjoy the Bible stories, hands-on activities and songs.
One way the children learn to love others is by reaching out to those in need. This year, they have dedicated their Sunday morning offering to the Berlin Children's Fund. During Lent, they prepared sewing kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
A Safe Place for Children
A number of years ago, KUMC adopted a Safe Sanctuaries policy, the purpose of which is to ensure that all children are safe from any type of abuse. In addition to certain procedures that have been put in place, our teachers and care givers have attended training and are Safe Sanctuary certified.
